The company Yahoo owns quite a few websites and online services: examples include Yahoo.com
itself, their free webmail service (Yahoo Mail), and acquired properties like the photo sharing website Flickr. And, to make things easier, Yahoo centralizes your credentials into a single profile; in other words, once you have a Yahoo account, it allows you to login to Flickr, and automatically gives you an email address. In this tutorial, we will show you how to change your Yahoo password from Yahoo - but this will also affect all services that use Yahoo user name and password for authentication.
Note: this tutorial explains how to change your credentials if you can access your account. But if you forgot how to login, you will need to reset your password.
How do I change my Yahoo password?
Follow simple these steps to choose a new password for your Yahoo profile:
- First, open your web browser, and type "www.yahoo.com" inside the address bar:

- Once the Yahoo homepage has loaded, you will either be automatically signed in (in which case you will see your name displayed on the page), or not: in that case, click on the "Sign in" link near the top right corner of the page and login the usual way.
- Once you have logged in to your Yahoo account, click on your name, which is also a dropdown menu, as shown below: then, choose "Account Info" from the menu.

- Yahoo will then redirect you to a "Please verify your password" page, which contains a login form with your user name pre-filled: this is a security measure designed to protect access to your account from unauthorized access, in case you leave your computer unattended. Enter your current Yahoo password, and click on the "Sign In" button.

- As soon as you do, the "Account Info" and Personal Information screen will load, and display a series of headers: scroll down until you see "Sign-In and Security" header, and click on the "Change your password" link you see inside that section.

- The next screen contains one text field to confirm once more your current password (here too, this is there to prevent someone else from changing your account password), and two new fields for the new password you want to change to. Enter your new password twice, and click on the "Save" button at the bottom of that page.

Once you are brought back to the previous screen, you will know that you have successfully changed your Yahoo password! Keep in mind, as mentioned earlier, that you will have to start using your new password in other websites that use your Yahoo user name and password for authentication (including the My Yahoo! homepage service, Yahoo Mail, Flickr - to name a few).
